the weekends have been flowing with activities for me. yes, baby, i'm a happening chick! :-)
saturday evening started off with a lively and exciting seranade by a young soprano in e-major. i must say that it was at once heart-tugging and entertaining, though perhaps i wish never ever to hear another repeat performance.
a very harsh critique perhaps? not really, considering that it was my little chap who was doing the screaming at the top of his lungs at the doctor's clinic. his suffering? he was having his big toe nail removed. eeeeewwww! yes, we can all imagine the horror and the pain, and my dear little devil had to go through it first hand. sigh!
i did the motherly job of holding his hands while they carried out the necessary procedures of cutting off the skin from under the toe-nail and thereafter, removing it in its entirety, all without local anesthetic. they did try to numb him with some very cold spray and application but believe me, he was screaming the house down! and yes, i was holding his hands because i was to afraid to look. hubby dearest, on the other hand, stood like a rock and silently observed the procedure without so much as a flinch. what is it with men? do they have to sign a pledge to forever be strong and steady whilst all types of gory and gross things happen around them? or do they quiver and shake like a baby when they go to the restroom a minute later? i have no idea how they do it but i guess i was lucky there wasn't two quivering shaking idiots hanging around the little boy that night.
i tried to distract him with promises of ice-creams and asking him about his favourite choice. but if my son was at a more vocal age, he would probably say, "zip it, mum. who bloody hell cares about some freaking ice-cream when i am hurting so bad?". maybe i was trying to distract myself from the blood-curdling screams. that nerve-wrecking scream. i want my mummyyyyyyy.
after the interesting musical performance, we adjourned for dinner. any clever folks want to guess what we have for dinner?

sunday night wasn't as dramatic, thank goodness. this little heart cannot cope with two stressful events in a row. we went to catch a nice movie
and we saw it here
under the stars.
and the moon.
and the blood-sucking pests.

dear lm: are you suggesting i buy him a car to pacify him?!
aircond comforts? i also know that's why there are so many overweight ppl down south :-p feel the grass under your feet :-)
waahh long long time i never watch open air cinema oredi.
Poor baby. It must have hurt a lot! I look at the pic while reading your vivid description I can already feel the pain on my toe... Poor thing.
Next time please remember to bring pest spray for any open concerts or movies. ;)
me: are we overweight? *look left, right, behind*. You mean those in jaybee?
oww owww owwwwww... :(
that looked painful! hope he's recovering ok now.
ooh, is the starlight cinema thingy on already?
Ouch...thats painful
we men can tahan cos we blur mah....
wish they had open air screenings here...then again we'd need a thermal blanket
Aiyoh....so poor thing! How's he now?
Hope he is better, yeah.
dear ah pek: just imagine, one hand oh kau, one hand meraba-raba. all out in the open. come kl loh, the open air cinema still on.
dear titoki: we were armed with mosquito repellant roll-on and we rolled every inch of our exposed bodies.stillllllll kena bitten. i think the mosquitoes are all used to the smell of citronella already :-)
dear lm: of course i don't mean you personally lah. but all around you, don't have meh? maybe it's just my misconception.
dear may: yah, yah. quick grab a date and go catch it before it's over. just make sure his hands don't go wandering in the dark :-)
dear ff: ohhhhh, a mystery finally answered. because they are blurrrr. i see. heehee.
and imagine all those hailstones dropping on you in the middle of the movie. ouch!!!
dear cocka: ohmygawd! call the press! call the tv station! call the radio station! this was actually the very first serious comment by cocka! gasp! my heart tak boleh tahan the shock! cocka actually said something without pulling my leg! i must print out this comment and frame it up! heehee.
btw, he's up and jumping already, with the bandaged toe. sigh! the problem is asking him to be less active for fear that he will hurt the toe again. pssst, he doesn't know the toe nail has been removed.
why need operation? what happened?
Pain pain pain...
Mozzie bites and insect repellant does nothing worth buying.
oh dear, in-grown toe nail removal are very very very very painful.
Hope you have lots of ice cream for him to cheer him up.
Aiyo, your poor boy, that sounds like torture. I'm ignorant here, why the removal of toe nail?
hope the boy recover fast. hei movie under the star... very romantic!
cocka had been a change man after meeting mother superior. my 2 cents worth!! the devil had turned into a little angel...
Lenglui....*cocka scratches head and say, Niamah!*
Ok, which part of the wall are you going to hang the framed comments? LOL
dear wuching: rammed his toe under the door :-o
dear ian: yes, yes, yes....and yes, but we do the best we can
dear robin: it wasn't really ingrown but there was that danger if we did not remove the old nail. it was already mostly detached from the nail bed :-o ice cream ah? poor fella coughing also lah. we bribed him with a toy water pistol that came with sweets :-)
dear imomsdaughter: his reason was the original toe-nail has mostly detached from the nail bed - due to a trauma to the toe. i.e. he closed the door too fast and his toe got caught under the door. we had to remove the nearly detached one, otherwise the new one that grows will come out from under it and turn into ingrown toe-nail, as advised by the doctor.
dear fei: ya, romantic. complete with serenading mosquitoes :-p still, it was fun. did mother superior preach him on his evil ways? i would have thought cocka would have won the battle between bad vs good.
dear cocka: eh, no cock head scratching here lah. walls ah? i've got sooooo many. will check with my interior decorator first to see which wall more suited to hang your comments :-)
Actually I think the men just *pretend to* tahan... ;P
dear papilio: another insight from a man. aha! that confirms it. men are just pretending to be tough. well, it's still very nice to have a hard shoulder to lean on. somehow, the idea of a quivering idiot holding my hand (for comfort and not for support) doesn't appeal to the feminism in me :-)
tht day i saw all the birds suddenly flew away from a huge tree. they must have heard the screaming..
dear sengkor: actually no lah, all those birds were stunned from the noise. fell to the floor and pengsan. now, if you care to check, all the neighbourhood birds are stone deaf.
should be papilia lah, not papilio. wow she managed to walked into lenglui's blog ! :P
dear lm: yes, what an honour. must be all that publicity you were giving me in your blog. then again, most people who walked in never comes back for a second visit. is it me?
